#46: Founders Breakfast Stout

Founders Brewing Company
Founders Breakfast Stout
Rating: 88

I love stouts. This one is SUPER INTENSE! Filled with hops, alcohol, coffee, sweetness and bitterness. Body: Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation.
Look: Jet black brown head.
Taste: Instant cocoa and coffee with a flash of sweetness. Hints of plums and raisens. I got a hint of habanero towards the end. The only other beer to compare this to is the Maple Coffee Bacon from Funky Buddha and Founders Breakfast stout is even more over-the-top in flavor.
I drank this for the first time on a boat, day drinking and I couldn't have picked a worse setting...drink this at night closer to room temperature to catch all the flavors.
I need to try again to full enjoy but WOW...never had anything like it.

#43: Kentucky IPA

Alltech's Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co.
Kentucky IPA
Rating = 91

Red IPA with a good citrus kick. Dry-hops (not sure what dry hops are???)
Nothing crazy just a solid IPA. Not overly hoppy.

#45: Hi-Res

Rating: 96
 Clear...almost see-through!!!

Ok. This beer is crazy. Super intense in every aspect.
Medium earthy floral taste with instant hops that fade as the sweet alcohol kicks in. Finishes bitter with a creamy alcohol taste. Sugary molasses and caramel lingers with a heavier body than most IPA's. Instant head high that higher alcohol beers give...
Unique in body and even the can is shaped like the Red Bull can. Awesome stuff

#44: Cubano-style Espresso Brown Ale

Cigar City Brewing
Cubano-style Espresso Brown Ale
Rating = 99

Pours amber brown
Sweet molasses smell
Watery mouthfeel
Coffee/espresso taste with a perfect balance of sweet vanilla.
Unlike any other beer...Cigar City creates another classic

#42 Abbey Dubbel

Flying Fish Brewing Company
Abbey Dubbel
Rating = 100

So this is one of my favorite beers.
A bunch of my friends had a tasting day of over 20 different beers and this one was the winner.
Because I had a good buzz going that day I wanted to try again more sober and it lived up to my expectations.
Sweet plum and malts up front followed by spices and caramel. Awesome!

#41: Bootlegger's Bourbon Barrel Hard Root Beer

Root Beer
Only thing that would make this better is ice cream

#40: Ruthless Rye

Sierra Nevada
Ruthless Rye
Rating: 82

Medium body, sweet up front, mild hops. Bitter and mild citrus finish. Never had a rye specific beer. Good stuff

#39: Stone Pale Ale

Stone Brewing Co.
Stone Pale Ale
Rating = 90

Finally understanding that "pale" means not overly hoppy.
Nice and simple. pine/floral/hoppy the common 3 adjectives to describe ales.

#38: Maximus

Lagunitas Brewing Company
Maximus
Rating: 99

Perfect amount of hops with a sweet citrus taste that lingers throughout. Orange and bitter.
IBU 73 = perfect amount to me.

Pineapple Express

#37
Terrapin Beer Company
Pineapple Express           Rating: 83

Smoked pineapple added and detected in the smell. Not a strong pineapple taste and overall lighter beer - lager in taste but called a "Helles" style beer. Really disappointed in this beer as I thought it was going to be more robust with the pineapple. This beer won the competition for best beer brewed by Terrapin employees. Paid $8 for this 20oz...do not recommend.

Never Summer Ale

#36              Rating: 87
Boulder Beer
Never Summer Ale

Red ale that smells like malt and hops. Very carbonated. Instant hit of alcohol even though its not too high with 6.5%. Read a review that said it tastes like roasted cracker and as strange as it sounds...it does have hints of crackers! Weird and awesome.

Founders Centennial IPA

#35
Founders Brewing Company
Founders Centennial IPA    Rating:  93

Best way to describe this IPA is simple. Mild hops with no overwhelming flavors and hints of caramel and citrus. Rated 99 on BA.

Black with a light head. Light in body. Chocolate mocha is the first taste with sweet coffee carbonation and bitter finish.

Stone Sublimely Self Righteous Ale

#33
Stone Brewing Co.
Sublimely Self Righteous Ale  Rating:96

My dad calls this a combo of Guinnes in body and IPA in taste.
I challenge you to drink this blindfolded.
It is a black IPA creamy with ample hops and a sweetness that lingers until the bitterness takes over at the end. The alcohol hides so well you won't know its presence until you fall off your bar stool.
This is my dads new obsession. On tap at Yardhouse 2/18/14 but will be removed in March.
Awesome stuff and available at Total Wine $3.

Left Hand Milk Stoud mixed w/ Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

#32
Left Hand Milk Stout mixed with Breckenridge Vanilla Porter
Rating: 97

I don't like to describe beers as a "milkshake" but this is a milkshake.
The Vanilla Porter is poured first and then layed with the nitrogen based Milk Stout on top. The thickness of the Milk Stout mixed with the sweetness of the Vanilla is stupid good. You get the roasted coffee/chocolate malt from the milk stout up front but then the overwhelming vanilla sweetness kicks in to complete this explosion of goodness.
This is my new favorite combo of beers.

Green Flash Hop Oddysey: Double Columbus

#31
Green Flash
Hop Odyssey: Double Columbus   Rating: 78

Surprisingly unimpressed with this Imperial IPA. Alcohol is hidden well and the hops don't make a strong presence, good texture. Lacks one distinct characteristic/taste to make this brew memorable. Don't get me wrong, this is a good beer, but Green Flash normally is so over the top this one doesn't live up to their norm.

Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout

#30
Rogue Ales
Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout          Rating: 95

Heavy creamy but not milk stout thickness. Has a strong barely presence, with a chocolate finish and sweetness that leaves you wanting more.
Stout fans...you will enjoy.

Oskar Blues Icey Wheat IPA

Strong citrus front with well balanced floral hops. You better like a crisp citrus IPA if your going to order this one. Had at Yardhouse Boca Raton 2/18/14

Lagunitas Sucks Brown Shugga Substitute Ale

#28
Lagunitas Brewing Company
Lagunitas Sucks Brown Shugga Substitute Ale
Rating: 94

Hoppy Imperial IPA. Solid beer (rated 96 on Beer Advocate) but I had this right after Cigar City White Oak and enjoyed Cigar City's White Oak better. Very good beer. Your typical Imperial IPA in my mind, overly hoppy, overly high in alcohol (hits unexpectedly) with floral and piney tastes.

Cigar City Jai Alai - White Oak

#27
Cigar City
Jai-Alai - White Oak       Rating: 96

This stuff is awesome! Sweet Orange and pear citrus flavor to mix well with a decent, but not overbearing amount of hops. And of course the oak! You can smell it from the pour and taste it in every sip..
Sweet pale ale. Not overly bearing. Get your hands on one. Hard to find.

I had at Tap Global Beer Collection in Delray Beach, FL.

Best Brewery in South Florida

Ranked are the Top 5 best breweries in South Florida.

1. Funky Buddha - Oakland Park
2. Salt Water - Delray Beach
3. Funky Buddha - Boca Raton
4. Miami Brewing Co. - Homestead
5. Due South - Boynton Beach
*Brewzzi's
While Brewzzi's is a brewery, it is more of a restaurant so for the sake of ranking I am going to leave them off the list.

**I have not been to Tequesta Brewing Co., MIA Brewing Company or Wynwood Brewing Company so they are off the list.

Sea Cow Milk Stout

#19
Saltwater
Sea Cow Milk Stout    Rating 91

New brewery just got build in Delray Beach, FL just off Atlantic Ave. Really awesome place right off the road. Just be weary that you will have to fight for parking.

This milk stout did not disappoint. Black with light brown lace. Lace (foam) falls down the glass showing how much you've drank with each sip. Heavy mouth feel with nice coffee notes and burnt cocoa hints.
